You get an email or a letter in the mail from a "mystery shopping company" often times the name of the company sounds official. Like "Mystery Shoppers International" or something similar. Usually there is a check included, or a promise to send a check. They tell you to cash the check and complete an assignment at a major retail store. These scammers use companies like Sears, JC Penny, Macy's and others to make this scam sound legitimate! Then they tell you to take the rest of the money that you didn't spend and send it to another Mystery shopper via Western Union. The only thing is, that's not a mystery shopper that's the scammer! The check he sent you was fake, but your bank won't realize it for atleast a week. When they do figure it out they're going to charge you for it! Meanwhile you just sent all the money to the scammer via Western Union and you're left holding the bag! Don't fall for it!
So Can You Really Get Paid To Shop?
Absolutely. Especially in this economy! I know it sounds hard to believe. Because customers are spending less money, companies want to retain the customers they have! The best way for them to do that is to send secret shoppers in to evaluate the store and service and offer suggestions on how they could improve it!
